Why is time passing so fast?

Last updated on 1 September Sunday, 2019

This is one of the most common questions that most people ask themselves and those around them. I will ask myself why is time Passing so fast, and I will try to give answers in this post. Let me tell you honestly in advance that we won’t able to reach to a definite conclusion by the end of the post, but please keep on reading if you don’t have something important else to do.

Let me start with some basic information first: a day equals to 24 hours, 1440 minutes, or 86400 seconds. That will always be the same unless someone crazy enough decides to make a day 25 hours. In other words, there is a certain flow of time, no slowdown or acceleration… But why do we get that feeling? Why is time passing so fast?..

In fact, you are right and wrong at the same time. Time passes slowly and fast. I’m glad I’ve managed to confuse you enough. The flow of time can seem fast or slow depending on what you’re doing, how you’re feeling. If you got up late today, the time you have left will be much faster than it was yesterday. You will notice that even routine tasks such as waking up, spending some time in your bed, having breakfast, cleaning the house and some such take a lot of time. When you finish all your work and look at the time, you will realize that you have very little time to go out and do some walking or shopping. So you should get up as early as possible to use more hours out of 24.

If you are alone somewhere, time will pass slowly. The same if you have to wait for something or while working. I even remember there was a song that says “The clock at work is always slowing down”.

If you have a lot of work to do and you have to catch up before the deadline, time will pass quickly. If you’re in a place you love, with the people you love, time will pass fast. As you can see, the speed of time depends on many variables.

Speaking of variables, let me try to respond to the frequent complaints about time.:

People say that time passes very fast after a certain age, and they can’t even keep up with the speed of time. I think one of the biggest reasons for this is the fact that eventually moving to a fixed order and continuine living within this routine. When you do the same or similar things every day, you think that time flows slowly through what you do, but when you look back, you may realize that days, weeks, months and even years are passing by. When you add a little color to your life and do different things, you think that time passes quickly through the things you do.; looking back, you may think you had a full, enjoyable time. Non-routine activities such as trying new things, getting to know new people and spending time with them, seeing new places will help you control the speed of time for yourself.
This is one of the biggest reasons for the slow passing of time for children. Many things that they encounter in their daily lives mean new experiences and something new to learn for them, that leads them to improve themselves. One learns and should learn new things at any time during his / her life. However, after a while, the pace of learning slows down, and from that day onwards, the time for that person begins to pass quickly.

Let me give you another example, this time about myself. I am now 28 and started working at the age of 19. While I remember a lot of things from my school years, there’s very little in my memory over the next nine years. Inevitably, working life imprisones you in a boring and suffocating routine. You don’t have much choice in order to do something new and find remedies against time. That’s why I still have a lot of dreams that I couldn’t accomplish yet. My biggest excuse for this is that I have little amount of time.

Finally, I’d like to add that the speed of time depends on what we experience in any given time. I wouldn’t know how to kill time while working or lying in my bed when I got a cold. On the other hand, my friend, who tells me of his time with huge excitement over the phone, telling me what he’s doing today and makes me feel jealous to the death.

If you’re aware of what you’ve just read, it doesn’t change anything but confuse you. At least let me end this good: Time will pass faster, faster than ever, one way or another. But it is in your hands to have a good time and make the best out of it.

It was not confusing 😀 It helped me understand more clear that in order to enjoy our lives more we need to do, to see, to learn new things . Thank you for that 🙂
